Homestead Hurricanes

The 2020 Homestead Hurricanes were represented this summer with about 25 spectacular kids. Our coaches, Kate and Maya, helped them grow in so many ways. While our meets were “virtual” and they weren’t able to swim against other teams, these kids never stopped working and getting better.

During our 6 week season, our dedicated coaches worked hard with the kids to refine their skills in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. We had several swim IM’s for their first time ever too (that’s one lap of each stroke). Our relays were fun to watch as always! They also focused on building their endurance which paid off in many ways. Our team included several new young swimmers, as well as kids who have been on the team for many seasons.  The Hurricanes have a strong team spirit and a multi-age bond that is amazing! The season ended with our traditional party and awards.

We partner with King Marlin Swim Club. Normally we have meets with 1 or 2 other neighborhood teams and swim according to age group. We meet Tuesday-Friday mornings and break the practices up by age group and skill levels.

It’s astonishing to see each swimmer’s growth from start to finish and the rewarding looks on their faces as they excel! We can’t wait for next year and hope you’ll look into joining us!
